The Community Projects Committee supports projects that make a positive difference in the town of Long Island, Maine, and reflect LICA’s mission. The committee reviews grant applications with care and fairness, helping ensure that funds go to initiatives that create real community impact. The committee serves in an advisory role to the Board of Directors, which makes all final funding decisions..

 

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a grant application form that is simple to use and easy for community members to access.

• Review and evaluate all grant applications using clear, fair criteria. • Recommend projects to the Board that best support community needs and align with LICA’s goals. • Provide constructive feedback to applicants when possible.

• Promote an open, transparent, and welcoming grant process.

• Suggest updates to the grant program as community needs evolve.

 

Membership and Terms:

 

A LICA Board member chairs the Community Projects Committee, which includes at least one additional Board member and two to three community members at large. Community members are selected for their knowledge, experience, and dedication to supporting local projects and priorities.

 

Members typically serve one-year terms and may be reappointed. The committee strives to reflect a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds to ensure inclusive and balanced decision-making. Meetings are held as needed during each grant cycle.​​
